About the TempleAnikkattilamma kshethram, a Hindu Temple is situated in Anicadu Village, 3.5 km from Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district of the southern Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti. Here, Adiparasakthi Sivan and benign Parvati are worshiped with equal greatness in one Sreekovil (Sanctum sanctorum). Agnimahakalan and Agniyekshi are symbolized in these idols. Both idols are 4 feet tall and installed next to each other. The demon-shaped Lord Shiva’s idol has bow and arrow in his arms while Goddess Parvati holds sword in her hand.
Temple Architecture
The temple stands by the bank of river Manimala. It is believed that temple must have come into existence around 1600 years ago during the early days of Edapally dynasty. Apart from the Deities in the main Sreekovil, other deities such as Lord Bhadra, Lord Nagaraja, Goddess Yekshiamma and Rekshas can be seen in the sub-abodes in the courtyard. The temple countryard also has a beautiful place full of flowers known as Kanikonna which provides flower offerings to the temple Gods.
Anikkattilamma temple is the abode of the goddess, who is the supreme preserver and destroyer. She takes care of her devotees like a mother does her children.
For the devotees, Anikkattilamma is eternal power, capable of delivering all the wishes of her devotees.

Festivals and CelebrationsThe Pongala Pooja is conducted on the day of Pooram during the month of Kumbham. The annual festival is celebrated over eight days in the month of Kumbham and it concludes on the day of Pooram star. Anikkattilammayku pongala is the most popular festival of this temple, which attracts devotees from all over the India. . On the 8th day of the festival Pongala, thousands of women throng to the temple to offer pongala in earthen pots. Pongala is a rice porridge. The festival begins on Rohini day of Malayalam month Makaram-Kumbham.
Temple Idol
Several pujas such as Thali puja, Charadu puja, Maala puja, Thakidu puja, Pithru puja, Rahu puja, Ucha puja, Usha puja and Ayilyam puja are performed in the temple. Other offerings to the deity include Ganapathi Homam, Mruthyunjaya Homam, Neerajanam, Kaivattaka Guruthi, Pannineru Abhishekam, Manjal Abhishekam, Choorunu, Kethu puja, Ayursooktha Pushpanjali, Shaniswara puja and Akoramantra Pushpanjali.
