About the Temple
BhadrachalaRama is an ancient old temple established at Bhadrachalam in Khammam District of Telangana. It is also known as Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple. The presiding deity is Lord Rama, his consort goddess Sita and Lakshmana.
Bhadrachalam temple attracts thousands of devotees across the world. This hill place is surrounded by Holy River Godavari which flows towards southern direction. The Bhadrachalam temple is closely connected with the life of the saint-poet Kancharla Gopanna who later known as Bhakta Ramadas.
The Idols of Rama has four hands. The right hand holds Shanku, while Chakra can be seen in the left hand. A bow and arrow can be seen in the other two hands. Sita is seated on the left lap of Lord Rama and brother Lakshmana is standing to the left of Lord Rama.

HistoryBhadrachalam is a place where Lord Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana had sojourned during their 14-year exile in forests. They stayed in a parnashala 35 km away from Bhadrachalam. This is the place where Mareecha, the demon appeared as Golden Deer and from here Ravana abducted goddess Sita in the absence of Rama and Lakshmana.

Once sage Bhadra, a mountain king and his consort Menaka performed penance to Lord Rama on the banks of Godavari in the dense forest of Dandakaranya to grant his Divyadarshan. Sage Bhadra requested Rama to be seated on his head but Rama who was in search of his consort Sita promised him to fulfill his desire on his way back after finding Sita .
As Rama could not fulfill His promise, sage Bhadra continued his penance. After Ramavatar ended, sage Bhadra continued his penance praying for the graceful Darshan of Lord Sri Rama. Lord remembered his promise and revealed before Sage Bhadra on this mountain. Rama appeared with his consort Sita and brother Lakshmana. The hill place where deities were seated on was the head of Bhadra. Ever since, this shrine is known as Bhadrachalam.

Festivals and Celebrations
“Vaikunta Ekadashi”, is celebrated every year, a day that comes once a year. On Vaikunta Ekadashi day, it is considered auspicious to enter the temple’s sanctum from the northern doors. It is known as Vaikunta Dwaara Darshanam which gives a Moksha or Salvation. This Vaikunta Ekadashi celebration is followed by the ten-day festival called Dashaavatara Mahotsavams which represents 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
Vaaggeyakara Mahotsavams is celebrated every year remembering Bhakta Ramadasa and his hymns.
Another major festival, Sri Rama Navami is celebrated on every Chaitra Shuddha Navami on the auspicious Punarvasu birth star of Lord Sri Rama. The Kalyana Mahotsavam of Lord Rama with his consort goddess Sita is celebrated on this holy occasion. Lakhs of devotees witness this Kalyana Mahotsavam with great zeal and devotion.How to Reach

By Train: Kothagudem Railway Station is 40 km from the temple.
By Air: The nearest airport to the temple is Shamshabad, located in the outskirts of Hyderabad.
