Auli-an elixir!

Auli, also called “Bugyal” meaning “Meadows” is a lovely tourist destination in the Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand (also called Dev Bhoomi because of being the home of Chaar-Dhaam), India.  Auli lies on the way to Badrinath.

Auli is a very beautiful place that offers a panoramic view of snow-clad Himalayan suburbs, the blue sky and the surrounding is very rejuvenating and revitalizing.

Fascinations-

• Skiing- The snow covered land of Auli in the trimester of January, February and March is the best destination for skiing. The snow covered mountainous region, poses a remarkable challenge as you come through the twisted ridges. Challenging it may be, but for sure is fun.

• Ambiance- The mesmerizing slopes of Auli are bounded on all sides by coniferous oak forests. It makes an ideal winter resort.  You will be flattered by the natural scenic beauty of Auli. The sky high mountains covered with snow create an ambiance that’s divine and awe-inspiring.  If you are in love, Auli can make you mad in love! Such is the magic in its air! Skiing festivals and National Championships of Snow Skiing are organized during this period.  There are courses offered here from 4 days to 14 days long. • Mata Mruti ka Mela- In the month of September, Auli attracts lots of visitors due to this annual feast or Mela that happens here. This mela is celebrated in the nearby highly revered Badrinath Temple with all the rituals and festivals. People come here to witness this soul-soothing divine festive season.

• Snow- Apart from the adventurous sport of Skiing, snow covered mountains also offer the picturesque view that are equally enticing to capture in a camera as relishing they are to devour with naked eyes.

Making snow-man and hurling snow-balls are also very enthralling and lovely experience.

Tourist Places

• Artificial Lake- Auli boasts of having the world’s highest man-made lake. It helps creating snow in less snow fall season. Skiing thus remains unhampered. The beauty of this place is awesome!

• Views- Surrounded by high peaks like Mana, Kamet and tallest of all Nanda Devi. The 270 degree view will be enough to make you forget the reality of life. It is a dreamland and dreamy is what you will feel standing here.The sun-set is a scene that you would love to devour with your eyes. The snow covered mountains appear in all different shades as the lights get dim with the setting sun.Come here to meditate, come here to levitate; but Auli is a place you must come.
• Auli is in the vicinity of the holy Badrinath Temple. In the winters when the temple stands closed due to heavy rainfall, the deity of Badri Vishal is brought to the Joshi Math Temple.

• Religious Attractions- There are many places in Auli and its proximity that has a mythological connection. Mt Nanda Devi and very famous Mt Neelkanth are a few of them.
• Trekking- apart from skiing, there are trek trails in Auli that offer an indelible experience. The trek ridges are Auli-Gorson around 7 km, Gorson-Tali along 6km, Tali-Kuari Pass around 11km, Kuari-Khulara around 12 km, Khulara-Tapovan around 9 km.
• • The legend about Auli also says that when Lord Hanuman was on his way to take sanjeevani booti (a herb) for Laxman, he atayed and took rest here. There is a Hanuman temple as a memoir of that religious incidence.
  • Auli is a lovely place to be. You will fall in love with this place. Auli is an elixir of life that you must taste at least once. Some other places in the vicinity that are worth visiting are Tapovan, Badri Nath Temple, Joshi Math and Vishnu Prayag.

How to reach Auli

Air:-

The Jolly Grant Airport located in Dehradun is the nearest airport to Auli. It is at a distance of around 279 km from the hill station. It connects the place with several cities of the country.

Railway:-

Haridwar railway station is the nearest railhead situated at a distance of 273 km and numerous trains run from here on a regular basis connecting all the major towns and cities of India. From the railway station, taxis and buses are available which can be availed for reaching Auli at an economical cost.

Road:-

Joshimath is the nearest town to Auli and is situated at a distance of 16 kms. UPRSTC buses are operated from this town frequently to the nearby places including Rishikesh (250 km), Haridwar (273 km) and Dehradun (293 km). There are good services of Buses and Cabs available.
