About the TempleGogamedi is located in the district of Hanumangarh which is 395 km away from the Jaipur city in Rajasthan. The temple is believed to be nearly 950 years old. It was established and renovated by the Maharaja of Bikaner Shri Ganga Singhji during the year 1911. The temple was dedicated to the local folk deity, Shri Gogaji whose influence over the people was very intense. Gogaji is one of the five renowned peers with miraculous powers. He is a local deity and highly revered as he is capable of healing a person suffering from snakebite and other diseases. Gogaji is worshiped not only in Rajasthan but also in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

Temple History and Temple ArchitectureThe temple of Gogaji is an excellent example of Hindu and Muslim style of Architecture. The temple is built on a high mound. The temple houses the shrine of Gogaji. The engraved idol of Gogaji can be seen as a warrior riding a blue horse, with a lance in his hand and a snake around his neck. The temple is visited by every caste and communities. Gogaji shrine is a marble shaped structure which is a protected by a boundary. There are two minarets above the shrine which houses the idol of Gogaji. The temple flooring has White and Black marble tiles. The temple is constructed from Stone and lime mortar.

Gogaji was born in 900 AD to queen Bachchal and king Zewar in Dadrewa village of Churu district in Rajasthan. Gogaji was born by the blessing of Guru Gorkhnath ji.
Another to a hearsay, Arjan and Sarjan, the cousins of Gogaji were against him and was a part of a conspiracy with king Anganpal of Delhi. King Anganpal along with Arjan and Sarjan attacked bagad. Arjan and Sarjan were killed by Gogaji. On hearing this, Gogaji's mother became very angry and decided not even to see her son's face ever. Unable to decide how to deal with this situation, Gogaji sought for help from Guru Gorkhnath. Guruji slid the land with his holy tongs (chimta) causing Gogaji and his horse to take samadhi.

Festivals and CelebrationsThe vibrant Gogaji Fair is dedicated to a popular hero who is known as Goga Veer among the Hindus and Jahar Peer among the Muslims. Three days long grand fair is held at Gogamedi during the month of August - September in the memory of Gogaji. The fair begins from the ninth day of the Goga Navami. Gogamedi fair is celebrated in the remembrance of Serpent God and the festivities begin on Goga Navami. The festivities are dedicated to Goga Ji Maharaja and are observed with great religious devotion. Devotees light incense sticks, offer coconuts and sugar drops at the samadhi. Priests perform prayers at the samadhi of Gogaji.
