About the Temple
Madan Mohan temple is situated at Karauli in Rajasthan. The temple stands on the banks of the Bhadravati River, in the hills of Aravali. The presiding deity is Lord Krishna. The idol was brought by Shri Gopal Singhji from Amer. Later, it was installed at this place. The idol of Lord Krishna is 3 ft tall while the idol of Radha Ji is 2 ft tall. Both the idols are made of Astadhatu.
The temple has three platforms or altars. The idol of Madana-Mohan is flanked by Radha Ji on his left and Lalita Devi on his right. An idol of Gopalaji Krishna is also seen on the left altar.Temple Architecture
Madan Mohan Temple is situated at the foot of Karauli fort. In the front of the main temple, many smaller shrines can be seen. The beauty of these temples is sublime.
The temple of Shri Madan Mohan Ji is constructed of Karauli stone and it presents the exemplary example of medieval architecture. The temple has a circular path around the Garbha Gruha. The temple walls are adorned with beautiful pictures. The temple has a wide, spacious and beautiful esplanade. The design of sanctum sanctorum is adorable from an architectural point of view.
The basic materials used in the construction of this temple are Lime mortar and Karauli stones. It took almost three years to complete the construction of the temple.Temple History and Temple LegendAs per the legend, Shri Gopal Singhji won the battle of Daultabad. Later, the king in his dream saw that Lord Krishna instructed him to bring his idol from Amer and installed at Karauli. Hence, The king of Karauli brought the idol and constructed this temple to enshrine it.
To protect the idol of Lord Krishna from Mughal invaders, another two idols were brought from Vrindavan. The first idol was sent to Karauli and another idol was installed at Jaipur. Devotees believed that it is mandatory to visit Madan Mohan Ji and Govind Dev Ji temple in order to complete the Govardhan Yatra.Madan Mohan temple is considered as one of the Char Dham of Karauli District. Other three are Kaila Devi temple, Mehandipur Balaji temple and Shri Mahavirji.

The festivals such as Janmasthmi, Radha Asthmi, Gopasthmi, and Hindola are celebrated in a grand manner.
