About the TemplePunrasar Balaji temple was established in Vikram Samvat 1775, on the day of Jaistha Sudi Purnima. The temple is surrounded by the sand dunes. It is located about 57 km away from Bikaner. Besides the main Temple, an idol of Hanuman can be seen below the tree of Khejadi. Here, an ancient Hindu custom of shaving the hairs of newborn children or Jadula (Mundan) ceremony takes place. Churma Prasad, a sweet dish prepared from wheat flour, butter, and sugar are distributed among the devotees by the priest as the Prasad (daily sweet offering to god). The prasad is first offered to Lord Hanuman for offering (bhog) and is then distributed to the devotees.

Temple LegendAccording to the legend, Punrasar village was hit by famine in 1774. Jairam Das Bothra, a resident of Punrasar, left Punrasar in search of the food. When he was returning with laden sacks on a camel cart, the camel's leg got fractured and it was unable to walk. Hence, Jairam Das asked his colleagues to return to the village. On that night, Jairam Das saw a dream. Suddenly he felt as if someone was calling his name. He woke up and looked around but could not find anybody. He went to sleep but again he heard the same voice, but he still did not find anyone. He prayed to Lord Hanuman with folded hands, asking the one who was making that sound appear. Then Lord Hanuman appeared in front of him as a priest and he pointed out to a Hanuman idol and asked Jairam Das to take that statue along with him and install it in the Punrasar village. Lord Hanuman assured him that after installing this idol, all the problems will get solved. Jairam das replied that his camel's leg is fractured so he cannot move further. The Pandit(Priest) said that his camel is alright, and Jairam Das was amazed to see that his camel was able to walk and ready to go. He took Lord Hanuman's idol with him and installed it in Punrasar village. The priest told Jairam Das that he himself or his family members must take care of the deity. Since then the successors of Jairam Das are taking care of this temple.

Festivals, Pujas, and Celebrations
Every year, three popular fairs are held in the temple on Chaitra Sudi Purnima, Asoj Sudi Purnima, and Bhadrapad.
Festivals such as Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, Dussehra, and Diwali are celebrated joyously.
