About the TempleJeenmata is a village in Sikar district of Rajasthan. The holy shrine of Jeenmata is said to be a thousand years old. Jeenmata is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The prime deity is Mahishasura Mardini Durga. The miraculous deity fulfills the wishes of her devotees. Here Jeen Mata is worshipped in her eight-armed form. It is believed that Jeenmata was abandoned by her mother and hence this temple was constructed in her memory. This temple is revered by the people living around this place.
Temple HistoryThe sacred shrine of Jeen Mata is believed to be more than thousand years old. The exact period of its construction is unknown. It is believed that during the exile period, the Pandavas rebuilt the temple in the present style. The temple of Jeenmata was a place of pilgrimage from ancient times and was renovated and rebuilt several times. The temple is surrounded by a natural grace of serenity due to lush green vegetation and rich flora, fauna. The architecture of the temple is very elegant. The main hall has twenty-four pillars which are engraved with flora and fauna, dancers and deities. The main temple has an extremely tall Shikhar. The Sanctum Sanctorum is constructed of the marble. The gates are made of silver.

Temple LegendThere is a popular belief that, King Ghangh fell in love with an Apsara. She agreed to marry him on the condition that he would never visit her palace without informing her. The couple was blessed with a son Harsh and a daughter Jeen. Once king Ghangh went to her palace without any prior intimation and thus violated the promise he had made to the Apsara. She left the king and ran away from his palace with her son Harsh and daughter Jeen. Later she abandoned her daughter at the place where currently the temple stands. Few years later a Chauhan ruler built the temple at this place.
Festivals, Puja, and Celebrations
Navratri is celebrated with great fervor. A huge fair is organized during Chaitra and Ashwin Navratri. On the occasion of Navratri festival special pujas are conducted in the temple.
Shard Poornima and Phalgun Harsh Bhairva fair are also very popular among the devotees.
Infants are brought here for symbolic hair shaving and married couples come here to pay their homage.How to reach
