About the TempleAmbika Mata Temple, popularly known as Jagat temple is nestled in a small village, Jagat in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ambika. a form of Goddess Durga. The main shrine has an image of Goddess Ambika, who is worshipped as Shakti. Here, Goddess Ambika is worshipped as a Maa Durga as she is riding on the Lion. The temple is located in a cleft of rock which has numerous inscriptions on it.

Temple History and Temple ArchitectureThe temple was established during 961 A.D and is renowned for its abstruse carvings. The temple was built during the reign of King Rawal Allat or King Rawal Narwahan.
Temple Architecture
The pentagonal shaped temple is enclosed by a massive wall with17 turrets and a pagoda-like roof. The temple mandapa or columned prayer hall has projections on its either sides and the windows are decorated with beautifully carved panels. The ceiling rises in the shape of a pyramid.
Idol of the Goddess
The doorway of the temple is carved with attractive imprints, which gives the entire temple a delicate charm. The ceiling panel of the 'mandap' is carved and designed with multi-lobed motifs. The prayer hall has a wonderfully carved panel of dancing Lord Ganesh. The outstanding architecture of the temple boasts of various sculptures, ranging from Gods and Goddesses to the many other female dancers and singers divinities.
The forepart of the temple has ornamented allegorical panels set in alcoves that display scenes from the mythological episodes including various forms of Goddess Durga with her attendant maidens indecorous postures. All these sculptures are placed under the numerous miniature caves to provide the protection to these sculptures. The temple is worth visit for its outstanding architecture.
Festivals, Pujas, and CelebrationsThe temple conducts daily pujas along with Hovan, Yagna on the special occasions.
Navratri and Deepavali are celebrated in a religious manner.
