About the TempleThe famous Birla Temple of Jaipur, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi is situated at the base of Moti Dungri Fort. The temple was built in 1988 by an eminent and affluent business family of Birlas. The temple is constructed of pure white marbles with fine carvings and delicate designs.

The temple was originally named as Laxmi Narayan temple which is spread over the large area. Devotees enter the temple by climbing a flight of marble steps. Outer premises of the main shrine depict Hindu mythology episodes. Inside the sanctum sanctorum of the main shrine, the beautiful idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi can be seen with the majestic appeal. The idols are carved out of single marble stone.

The image of Lord Ganesh is seen over the beam at the entrance which is considered immensely auspicious. The temple interiors boast of a large panel of marble depicting mythological series.

The temple also houses sub shrines for various deities including Lord Ganesh, spiritual sages, Christ, Socrates, Zarathustra, Confucius, and Buddha. The huge temple campus has a museum that displays the household products and objects of the Birla family and a beautiful garden.

 Temple History and Temple LegendThe Birla temple was built on the land donated to the Birla family by the Maharaja of Jaipur, for just a token amount of one rupee. India's most famous business families, B.M Birla Foundation, established this temple in the year 1988. Located beneath the Moti Dungri Fort, the Birla Temple has three domes which represent the three religions of India.

The Birla Temple was originally known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, which was constructed by Shri Rang Ramanuj Das. It is said that once Lord Laxmi Narayan came into the dream of Shri Rang Ramanuj Das. Lord Laxmi Narayan told Ramanuj Das that the idols of Laxmi Narayan are buried under the land on which the temple was being constructed and asked Ramanuj Das to bring back these idols.

 Festivals, Puja, and CelebrationsJanmashtami is celebrated in a grand manner to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. The temple is decorated with flowers and archways. Temple is crowded during the festive season as devotees throng the temple to worship Lord Krishna.
