About the Temple

Salasar Balaji or Salasar Dham is a very important and sacred place for the devotees of Lord Hanuman. The temple is located in the Salasar town, near Sujangarh in Churu district of Rajasthan. The Balaji temple is situated in the middle of Salasar town and attracts thousands of worshippers throughout the year. Salasar Balaji temple is considered to be a Shakti Sthal and Swayambhu by the devotees.

Here, the idol of Lord Balaji is totally different from all the other idols of Lord Hanuman. The idol of Lord Hanuman has a round face with moustache and beard. This makes the idol most unique.

Temple History and ArchitectureIn 1754 AD, the temple was constructed using mudstone by Mohandas Maharaj. The present temple building is constructed from the bricks, cement, lime mortar, stone, and marble. The entire circular path, the prayer hall and the Sanctum Sanctorum are adorned with beautiful Gold and Silver artwork. The temple has a silver vestibule, silver doors and the utensils which are used in the service of Lord Balaji are also made of silver. The primary gate has a carving work of white marble. The temple shrine and the sanctum are adorned with floral paintings and marquetry in Gold and Silver which gives a royal look to the temple.

Temple LegendThere is a legend behind the discovery of this site. On the day of Shraavana Shukla Navami, Samvat (year) 1811, in Asota village, a Ginthala Jat farmer was working in his field. Suddenly his plough was hit by a hard, stony material. He dug up the place and found an idol covered with sand and mud. The idol was that of Lord Balaji Hanuman. That night, the Thakur of Asota village had a dream. Lord Balaji himself appeared in his dream and asked him to send the idol to Salasar which is located in the Churu district. At the same night, Mohandas Maharaj of Salasar, a devotee of Lord Hanuman saw the similar dream. Lord Balaji informed him about the idol which was recovered from Asota village. He immediately sent a message to the Thakur of Asota village. Later, the idol was sent to Salasar and was installed at Salasar Dham.

Festivals and Celebrations

Sri Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, and Purnima are the major festivals celebrated in the temple.

Fairs are held on Ashvin Shukla Chaturdashi, Bhadra Shukla Chaturdashi and Chaitra Purnima which are witnessed by thousands of devotees.

Here, it is believed that Lord Hanuman full fills devotee wishes if they bind coconut with their wishes inside temple premises.

By Road: Buses and taxis are available from all the major cities of Rajasthan to access the temple.

By Train: The nearest railway stations are Ratangarh (45 km), Sujangarh(27km), Lakshmangarh (30km) and Sikar(54 Km)

By Air: The nearest airport is at Sanganer, Jaipur which is 170 km away from the temple.
