About temple:-The temple is one of the most sacred abodes of the holy shrines of Lord Murugan, they are also called as Arupadaiveedu. The most unique and interesting part of this temple is that it has main deities of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu that are facing each other. This temple is the visiting place for many ancient Tamil saints such as Sundarar, Gnana Sambhandar and Sambandhar. The temple is significantly famous for Lord Karthikeya who is lovingly called as Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu.

The story states that Lord Muruga married Deivyani who was the beautiful daughter of Lord Indra at this place where the temple is situated now. It is a very old and sacred temple and it is well determined from the fact we can see it mentioned in the Sangam Literature.

The festivals include Panguni Uthiram (celebrated during March), Vaikasi Visakam as Visakam is said to be the birth star of Lord Muruga, Kandha Sashti (Celebrated during October or November), Aadi Krithigai (Celebrated in the month of May or June) and Thai Poosam which is celebrated during the full moon day.
